margin-bottom:0px; border-radius:3px; '><p><div  style='padding-bottom:10px; margin-top:15; ' class='av-special-heading av-special-heading-h2  blockquote modern-quote  avia-builder-el-5  el_before_av_textblock  avia-builder-el-first  '><h2 class='av-special-heading-tag '  itemprop=\"headline\"  >About<\/h2><div class='special-heading-border'><div class='special-heading-inner-border' ><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Known for her contagious enthusiasm, and an inspirational storyteller, Becky Haas is recognized internationally as an advocate, trainer, and organizational coach on using a trauma informed approach, the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) study.\u00a0 She is a pioneer in creating trauma informed communities.\u00a0 The work she led in Northeast Tennessee was recognized by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in 2018 as a model for other cities to follow.\u00a0 In 2019 she co-authored the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/content\/dam\/tn\/dcs\/documents\/for-providers\/procurement\/Building%20a%20Trauma%20Informed%20System%20of%20Care%20Toolkit.pdf\"><em>Bui<\/em><em>lding a Trauma Informed System of Care<\/em><\/a> toolkit for the Tennessee Department of Children&#8217;s Services detailing a blueprint for creating community resilience.\u00a0 This toolkit has been recommended as a \u201cpractical tool\u201d in Johns Hopkins, <em>Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action\u00a0<\/em>and identified as a model that can be replicated by other cities.<\/p>\n<p>From 2018-2020, Becky served as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacesconnection.com\/blog\/how-does-a-regional-healthcare-organization-integrate-trauma-informed-care\">Trauma Informed Administrator for a regional healthcare system<\/a> providing training development and delivery to healthcare staff in multiple hospitals as well as was instrumental in raising awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) as a social determinant to poor health and addiction within rural Appalachia.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Prior to working in healthcare, she was the Director of a crime prevention program for the Johnson City Police Department which is credited for reducing drug related crime in one neighborhood by 40% and creating a first probation program of its kind in Tennessee which was acquired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/correction\/rehabilitation\/day-reporting.html\">Tennessee Department of Corrections<\/a> and now serves as a state model for reducing recidivism.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 While working for police, she assisted in strengthening relationships between police and community including culturally diverse populations resulting in the first annual Martin Luther King, Jr. unity march in 2015.\u00a0 <\/span>Under her leadership these crime prevention efforts were awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/news\/2014\/8\/22\/state-sponsored-project-in-johnson-city-receives-national-award.html\">Outstanding Crime Prevention Program of the Year for the southern region by the National Criminal Justice Association<\/a> in 2014 and are listed by the U.S. Department of Justice as a success story.<\/p>\n<p>Becky is the author of several evidence-based sector specific professional development trainings with two receiving statewide accreditations in Tennessee as evidence-based training.\u00a0 In 2022 she partnered with Emory and Henry University to develop and record before a live audience of educators, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ehc.edu\/academics\/education\/creating-trauma-informed-resilient-schools\/\"><em>Creating Trauma Informed Resilient Schools &#8211; A Toolkit for School Professionals.<\/em><\/a> This online asynchronous course is now offered nationally by Emory and Henry University.\u00a0 Among the diverse sectors of professionals, she has trained, she is uniquely distinguished for her work training police officers and others in the justice system to understand trauma.\u00a0 She co-authored an article, \u201c<em>Increasing Empathy Through Trauma Informed Policing<\/em>\u201d based on her 3-hour POST Trauma Informed Policing Training which received publication in the International Association of Chiefs of Police Magazine in October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Becky co-founded the Global Resiliency Accelerator which now meets at least annually and at times has had participants joining from 14 countries.\u00a0 Among the numerous invited presentations since launching her consulting work in 2020, she has been a keynote or created courses for the San Antonio Department of Public Health Trauma Informed Care Consortium, University Health of Texas Trauma Informed Institute, Delaware State Police Department, Smyth County Virginia School District, Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, Sutter County California Public Health Department, Tennessee Department of Public Health, Sullivan County Regional Health Department, Head Starts of Durham North Carolina, Clay County North Carolina School District, Virginia Department of Justice, the Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance, Texas Department of Juvenile Justice, Correctional Management Institute of Texas, National Association of School Resource Officers, the Connecticut Judges Institute, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Academy of Social Justice in the UK, NAMI, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, the Georgia Medical School at Augusta University, Texas Judicial Mental Health Summit, and training for Anthem Health team members across the state of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>A qualified subject matter expert, she has been certified by the SAMHSA Gains Center as a Trauma Informed Care Trainer and earned her professional certification in Trauma and Resilience from Florida State University.\u00a0 Becky has completed courses in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and Trauma Informed Classrooms from the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University as well as programs from Starr Commonwealth.\u00a0 She is a certified Law Enforcement Crisis Intervention Team member and completed specialty training from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement \u2013 National Association of Chiefs of Police.<\/p>\n<p>She is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsu.edu\/institute\/strong-brain\/\">East Tennessee State University Ballad Health Strong Brain Institute<\/a> founding member and has served on the Expert Advisory Board for <a href=\"https:\/\/pathways-us.org\/about\/expert-advisory-committee\/\">Pathways to Resilience<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/navigate360.com\/safety-solutions\/social-emotional-learning-for-staff\/\">Navigate 360<\/a>.\u00a0 <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">She has been an ordained minister since 1996 and completed ministerial training at Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1979 and authored her first book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Your-City-Waiting-Becky-Haas\/dp\/1973812886\"><em>Your City is Waiting on You<\/em><\/a> in 2017.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Becky has been the recipient of numerous personal awards including a regional <em>Women\u2019s Tribute Award as a Transformational Woman<\/em> in 2019, the <em>Anita Steiner Award<\/em> from Goodwill Industries for implementing job skill training into the reentry community and was inducted into the <em>Social Work Honor Society at King University<\/em> for her above and beyond contributions which embody the heart and mission of the Social Work profession.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> \u00a0<\/span>In March of 2022, Becky received the prestigious <em>Friends of Children<\/em> award from the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth recognizing her as a state and national leader in implementation and support of trauma informed services and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Becky has a deep understanding of the importance for every professional sector to have intimate knowledge of healthy early childhood development and the potential for early adversity to disrupt that healthy development.\u00a0 An avid cyclist, Becky is married to Jonathan and together their greatest joys are their two sons, David and Christopher along with their growing families.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><div class=\"flex_column av_one_half  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding   avia-builder-el-7  el_after_av_one_half  el_before_av_one_half  \" style='margin-top:0px;
